When Water Will Not Stop

The first job in any plumbing emergency is stopping the flow. Find your stopcock, usually under the kitchen sink, and turn it clockwise. If you cannot reach it, ring us and we will talk you through it while an engineer is on the way.

Burst pipes and leaking pipes

Cold snaps split pipework in lofts and garages, and a burst pipe can put water through two floors in under an hour. We isolate the supply, cut out the failed section and replace it. A slow leaking pipe is less dramatic and often more expensive, because it soaks joists and plaster for weeks before anyone sees the stain.

Blocked toilets, sinks and drains

A blocked toilet that fills and will not clear is the call we take most often. Sometimes it is the pan, sometimes it is the soil pipe, and sometimes the problem is further out and needs emergency drain unblocking rather than plumbing repair. We carry jetting equipment on every van, so the same engineer is also your drain unblocker, and we can deal with all three on one visit instead of booking you a second.

Repeat blockages usually mean a build-up rather than a one-off, and those are better solved by drain cleaning than by clearing the same pan every few months. The same goes for a blocked sink that clears and comes straight back.

Emergency Plumber Nottingham: What It Costs

This is the question everybody asks first, and most plumbers will not answer it.

No call-out charge, and a fixed price before we start

We do not charge a call-out fee. An emergency call out costs you nothing until work begins. You are not paying for someone to arrive, look and leave. When you ring, we ask what has happened and quote you a fixed price for the work. That price is the price. It does not move because the job took longer than expected or because it is a Sunday.

Quotes are free, and there is no charge if you do not go ahead. If the job turns out to need something different once an engineer is on site, we tell you before we do it, not after.

What We Cover, and What We Do Not

Most emergency plumbing services list everything and specify nothing. Here is the honest version.

We do: burst pipes and leaking pipes, blocked toilets, sinks, showers and baths, overflowing cisterns, tank and cylinder leaks, outside taps, kitchen plumbing and bathroom plumbing, and every kind of blocked drain.

We do not: work on gas. We are not Gas Safe registered, which means we cannot legally touch a boiler, a gas appliance or central heating. If you think you can smell gas, leave the building and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 straight away. Do not ring us first. Gas leaks are not a plumbing job and anyone who tells you otherwise should not be in your house.

Saying so costs us a few enquiries a month. It also means that when we do turn up, you know we can actually do the work.

Finding a Leak You Cannot See

Some of the worst jobs have nothing to show for themselves. A rising bill, a warm patch on a floor, a musty smell in a cupboard. Digging up a floor to go looking is expensive and usually unnecessary.

We use acoustic leak detection and thermal imaging to trace a leak before anything comes up. The acoustic kit listens for water escaping under pressure; the thermal camera shows the temperature difference where it is soaking into the structure. Between them we can usually mark the floor within a few centimetres of the fault, turning a demolition job into a small repair.

Getting to You Across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire

A fast response matters: most plumbing emergencies worsen the longer they run. We aim to be with you inside the hour, and we manage it about nine times out of ten. Traffic and distance are the things that beat us, so we will give you a realistic time on the phone rather than a number designed to win the booking.

Our local engineers cover emergency call-outs across the Nottingham area and Nottinghamshire, out to Mansfield, Arnold, Hucknall and across into Derbyshire. Ring the number, tell us what is happening, and we will tell you straight away whether we cover your postcode and when we can be there. That is the whole booking process.

If the emergency is a drain rather than a pipe, our emergency drain unblocking team works the same hours and the same number. For anything that is not urgent, planned work and drain cleaning can be booked for a time that suits you.

Who We Send

We are local plumbers, and every engineer is fully trained, insured and DBS checked. That last one matters more than it sounds: you are letting a stranger into your home, often at night, sometimes with children asleep upstairs. We think you should be able to ask who is coming and get a straight answer.

Our engineers carry identification, work in clean overshoes, and clear up before they leave. The work is guaranteed. Thousands of customers across Nottingham and the county have used us, and our reviews are worth reading before you call anyone.

Ring 0115 990 2882 and speak to someone who can help. No call-out charges, a fixed price agreed before we start, and an engineer on the way.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an emergency plumber charge in Nottingham?

We cannot publish one figure, because it depends on the job. What we can tell you is how the pricing works: there is no call-out charge, the quote is free, and the price we agree with you on the phone is fixed before we start. Emergency plumbing is expensive largely because of call-out fees and hourly rates that climb. We use neither.

How quickly can you get to me?

We aim to reach you within the hour and manage it roughly nine times in ten. When we cannot, we say so on the phone and give you a realistic time instead.

Do you work on boilers or gas?

No. We are not Gas Safe registered, so we cannot work on boilers, gas appliances or central heating. If you suspect a gas leak, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. For plumbing repairs involving water rather than gas, we can help.

What counts as a plumbing emergency?

Anything you cannot safely leave until morning. Water you cannot stop, a leak coming through a ceiling, a blocked toilet or drain in a house with one bathroom, or no water at all. A drain that has backed up into the house always counts, and that is emergency drain unblocking rather than a plumbing repair.

If you are not sure, ring us and describe it. We will tell you honestly whether it needs someone tonight or whether it can wait, and we will not talk you into a call-out you do not need. For a non-urgent problem, get in touch and we will book you in.
